Prominent expatriates angry over propaganda against Dr. Nurun Nabi

Desk Report: Three officials of the Muktadhara Foundation, the organizer of a New York book fair and a naked supporter of the current occupying Yunus government, have issued a highly false statement. Three foundation officials, Rokeya Haider, Dr. Ziauddin Ahmed and Biswajit Saha, have attempted to defame Dr. Nurun Nabi by making false accusations. Dr. Nabi’s anger has begun after he resigned from the post of president of the foundation and made some clear statements to the media, disagreeing with the ideals of the Great Liberation War.

In the wake of such false propaganda against Dr. Nurun Nabi, prominent figures from the country and abroad have issued statements protesting. They said in a joint statement that Dr. Nabi had been associated with the book fair since the first day of the fair for the past 33 years. He was the convener of three book fairs. At the same time, he has fulfilled the responsibility of the Chairperson of Muktadhara Foundation with distinction. The 2025 book fair was also supposed to be held under his leadership. All the members of the fair committee were in agreement on this matter. He was also given that responsibility, unanimously.

The decision was that no one who supported the extreme democratization of the current occupying government would be able to join the book fair. But in complete disregard of this decision, a writer named Sadat Hossain, who is a direct ally and beneficiary of the Yunus government’s meticulous design plan, was given the responsibility of opening this year’s book fair.

They say that he started out as a student member of a savage political party. This writer is the product of the project that the fundamentalists took up to change the history and continuity of the great liberation war. The true nature of this alleged writer began to emerge in 2018.

When the July terror came, she took off her entire niqab and took to the streets. What did she look like in July and August? As proof of this, screenshots are circulating on social media. Many people in the country and abroad are aware of this writer’s despicable project. The statement makers said, Dr. Nurun Nabi is a heroic freedom fighter. He was known as the ‘brain’ of Banga Bir Quader Siddiqui on the battlefield. His documents are preserved nationally and internationally. He was a fearless soldier of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu.

He has successfully fulfilled the duties of the joint convener of the North American chapter of the ‘National Coordination Committee for Implementing the Spirit of the Liberation War and Eliminating the Assassins of 1971’, formed in 1992 under the leadership of martyred mother Jahanara Imam.

Bangabandhu Parishad – Long-time President of North America. No, he is not directly a member of any political party. However, he is a shining beacon of Bangladesh for the spirit of the great Liberation War, non-communal ideals, the principles of the Father of the Nation, and justice and equality.

The statement makers said with pain that the fabricated slander that Dr. Nabi is ‘active in the rehabilitation of a political party’ is indicative of very low taste and low mentality. Because those who have worked with him for a long time should not know him well. The signatories in the statement said that everyone knows the heinous acts committed by the militant and fundamentalist government in the last nine months after it came to power on August 5, 2024, through a deep conspiracy.

This government is being supported by the current Muktadhara Book Fair officials. It is important to remember that when this book fair started in 1992 under the main initiative of an organization called ‘Bengali Chetna Mancha’, the Muktadhara Book Shop was mainly added for book sales. At that time, BNP was in power in Bangladesh.

In those adverse times, the book fair started its journey by embracing Bengali nationalism, the ideals of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu, and the non-communal values of the great Liberation War. There was no single creative Muktadhara book fair there. That book fair has been moving forward with the spirit of the Liberation War for the past 33 years. But when number 32 was demolished after Dakhaldar Yunus came to power, almost everyone at the book fair was still silent.

The statement makers said that those who are directly giving public speeches in North America saying, “Strengthen Yunus’s hand”, and forming a front – they can directly join Yunus’ political party and become leaders of the local committee. Why did they hand over the book fair to Yunus’ mob supporters?

If we talk about the constitution of the so-called foundation, then there is no support for heinous mobocracy, murder, rape, political assassinations, or the demolition of Bangabandhu’s murals, artists’ works, shrines, and martyrs’ altars from Bangladesh. The statement makers called for an end to all evil propaganda against Dr. Nurun Nabi. They said that those who are trying to defame Dr. Nabi through statements should stop all Yunusian plans by asking for an unconditional apology from him. Because these vile actions are tantamount to insulting the souls of three million martyrs.

The statement makers called on all the diaspora to make the upcoming ‘Bangabandhu Book Fair’ a success. They said that unity among all on the issue of Bangladesh during the Liberation War will take us forward towards the future of the golden generation, both at home and abroad.

The well-known personalities in the fields of politics, literature, art, music, culture, education, medicine, society and intellectuals are among the statement-givers – Dr. Zinat Nabi, Tajul Imam, Tajul Mohammad, Dr. ABM Nasir, Rafayet Chowdhury, Dr. Sejan Mahmud, Dr. Delwar Arif, Mithun Ahmed, Lutfun Nahar Lata, Rana Hasan Mahmud, Dr. Hasan Mamun, Dr. Ataul Karim, Safeda Basu, Dr. Nahid Hasan, Swapna Imam, Fakir Ilyas, Dastagir Jahangir, Dr. Dilip Nath, G.
