Popular Bangladeshi actress Nusraat Faria, known for her portrayal of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the biopic ‘Mujib: The Making of a Nation’, was apprehended at Dhaka’s Shahjalal International Airport. The arrest is reportedly linked to a case concerning an attempted murder during the widespread protests against Sheikh Hasina that occurred in July 2024.
According to the Prothom Alo newspaper, the 31-year-old actress was detained at the immigration checkpoint while en route to Thailand after an arrest warrant was issued for Nusraat Faria in connection with a case filed on charges of attempted murder during the anti-government demonstrations. The protests ultimately led to Sheikh Hasina’s resignation and subsequent departure to India. Shafiqul Islam, the Assistant Commissioner of Police in the Badda Zone, confirmed the actress’s arrest.
